Imperial Classical Ballet is an art form created by the movement of the human body. It is theatrical, performed on a stage to an audience utilising costumes, scenic design and lighting. It can tell a story or express an emotion. Ballet can be magical, exciting and thought provoking. Imperial Classical Ballet is considered the foundation of all dance disciplines, as it focuses on using precise and highly formalised set steps and gestures improving posture, correct alignment, core strength, balance, co-ordination, flexibility, and style. Ballet requires patience and determination and can transform pupils into beautiful, graceful dancers. The ISTD syllabus provides a sense of achievement for both children and adults dancing, either for recreation or to pursue a career in Dance and Performing Arts.
